My Town Friday Shoot Out: My Favorite Place...

I had lots of ideas for this week's "Shoot Out"...Target, my favorite place to shop; Starbucks, my favorite place for coffee/breakfast; my couch, my favorite place to hang out in the evenings; my bed, my favorite place to sleep....but in the end, I chose my favoritest place to meet my best friend: Goldfish Tea in Royal Oak, MI.

My best friend and I have been meeting here on random occasions for the last two years or so. We've enjoyed many a night in this tea house, sipping our favorite pot of shared tea, ginseng oolong. The employees are great, knowledgeable and very friendly, especially the owners Jim & Janice. The customers are fun to watch and talk to. The tea selection is amazing...great Chinese teas.

The pictures aren't great and they don't capture the warmth you feel when you enter the place, but this is MY favorite place to be....

Why would you think these pictures aren't great? I'm guessing because you can't feel in them what you feel when you're there BUT..BUT...we can feel them.

Your blogs colors enhance the warmth and nightly glow found there.

Very nice!! I really enjoyed these photos :)

Happy Friday

I feel the warmth - looks like a great spot to unwind! Here in the PNW we do a lot of winding up with all of our espresso places. We need some tea houses!

Wow, that would be my favorite place too! If you ever get out to Chicago, you should check out Julius Meinl--it's an Austrian tea and coffee house, and by the looks of your post, you'd love it! I'm going to go fill up my teacup now, thanks to your post!

I have never seen a tea house before. Tea is my favorite drink and I have one in my hand from the time I wake up in the morning until I go to bed. I would love to visit your favorite place. It looks amazing, your photos are great, and I could feel the warmth and coziness of the place. Your pictures told the story very well. I love it. It's a beautiful place and so are your pictures.

often the warmth we feel in a space has to do with smell. I can imagine that the smell of tea is very soothing. I can't stand starbucks but sometimes there is one in bookstores, I love that initial smell of fresh ground coffee, your tea experience must be simular - great post - great place

Those photos did an excellent job of capturing the warmth of the tea house. Linda and I have switched to drinking mostly green tea lately and I couldn't think of a more beautiful or relaxing place to drink it.
